Committee
| The ARCA Consumer Advisory Committee
(CAC) is made up of people with developmental disabilities (consumers)
from 19 of the 21 California regional centers.

Purpose:
The purpose of the committee is to advise the ARCA Board of Directors on
statewide issues that are important to consumers. |
Topics Currently Under Discussion:
-- Emergency preparedness & response
-- Self-Directed Services
-- Leadership
-- Affordable housing
-- A mentoring program pairing older consumers with younger ones
-- Improving transportation services
-- The implementation of SB 1270 |

Tips on what to do in case of an
emergency:
- Always keep important phone numbers with you.
- Ask a neighbor to check on you in case there is
an emergency, such as an earthquake.
- Be prepared for 1 week of survival in case of an
emergency.
Here is a list of the basic supplies you should have
in your emergency kits:
- Water ( 1 gallon per person, per day, for at
least 3 days.)
- Food (at least a 3-day supply including a can
opener)
- Battery-powered radio with extra batteries
- Flashlight with extra batteries
- First aid kit
- A whistle to signal for help
- Dust mask
- Plastic sheeting and duct tape for a temporary
shelter
- Moist towelettes, garbage bags, and plastic ties
for personal sanitation
- A wrench or pliers to turn off utilities
- Local maps
- Pet food, extra water, and supplies for your pet
or service animal
